Of West St. Paul. An ageless amazing man of perseverance, integrity, kindness, faith and family. Born in St. Paul, MN. At age 16 attended St. Paul Vo-Tech drafting school, on completion enlisted & served in WW II as a Seabee in Philipines/Pacific Theatre. University of Minnesota School of Architecture graduate. Many architectural firsts. IES award-winning MN State Capitol interior and exterior lighting; MN Supreme Court renovation; planning & design for Anoka-Hennepin ISD; Minneapolis Grain Exchange historic renovation; MN Energy Code; MN Handicapped Code. Expertise requested for lighting design for White House & DC national monuments. Emeritus of Ellerbe Association, Exec. VP Thorsen & Thorshov Association, Director MN Building Code Division, infrared thermography Planner/Consultant. Gargoyle Club member. Preceded in death by lifelong spouse, Mary Lou Sweeney; and brother, Walter. Survived by cherished children, Diane (Rueben), Greg and Jean (Steve); grandchildren, Kirsten (Brent), Scott (Ashlie), Jennifer and John; great-grandchildren, Thomas, Lucy and Evelyn; sister, Dorothy Moore; nieces, nephews, & valued good friends. Talented singer, clarinetist, photographer (his Argus C3). Enjoyed travel with family, fishing, thunderstorms, ping pong, crosswords, debating politics, prayer of St. Francis.
