Dale Fredrick Vogt Sr. Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Dale Fredrick Vogt, Sr. was born on March 12, 1930 in Clear Lake, SD and the Lord called him home to heaven on October 22, 2019. He valiantly struggled to recover from a stroke in 2017. Dale was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church, living his faith daily in so many ways. He has been a member of Christ Lutheran in Eagan since 1957. As a servant leader he was on most church boards, taught Sunday School, set up for funerals, folded bulletins, read to the preschool students and worked on the building committees. He was the contractor for the original church building in 1959 and then again in 1980. He was also a delegate to many LCMS conventions throughout the years. Dale’s schooling began in Clear Lake, SD and when the family moved to Minneapolis in 1942, he continued his studies, graduating from Roosevelt HS in 1948. Dale began his career in construction as a carpenter, and through the years advanced to President and an owner of Lovering Construction Co. He was known as an honest and reputable businessman throughout his career. After Dale’s retirement in 1986 he decided on a career of mission service with Laborers for Christ. For the next 30 years he assisted in 304 building projects in 28 states. His expertise had him serving as a project manager, consultant and preconstruction coordinator. If a church needed help, Dale would be sent! His family insisted that he retire from his second career at age 85! Doris, his wife of 58 years, died in 2011. Dale’s pride and joy was his family: Laura (Charlie), Dale (Cathy), Jane, David (Marcia). 11 grandchildren: Christopher, Tim, Amanda, Dan, Jake, Patrick, Christie, Nick, Jenna, Kevin, Robby. And, the next precious generation of 7 great-grandchildren gave him smiles. Dale is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Amanda, siblings Wiley, Carroll and Mandy. Other family surviving Dale are sisters Jeanette, Vione, Bonnie, Eileen and Doris’ siblings Arlette and Louis Meyer, plus many nieces and nephews. Everyone enjoyed being around Uncle Dale! Patriotism was a priority in Dale’s life as he was very proud of his service in the Navy Reserves as a Sea Bee. He enjoyed WW II history, displaying the American flag and was proud to be part of an Honor Flight in 2016. Dale was an avid bird and waterfowl hunter. He enjoyed annual trips with his sons, grandsons and their friends. He also leaves a legacy as a loyal Vikings fan; having season tickets since 1961. Dale will always be remembered as man of great character with a humble and caring spirit. He loved to smile, have fun, converse and enjoy life. Most importantly, he showed his faith in everything he said and did. “Well done, good and faithful servant” To God be the Glory! In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to the family. In memory of Dale, gifts will be directed to Christian mission work.
